We did it!
The Justice for Victims of Trafficking Act amendment voted out of the Judiciary Committee today!
Senator Cornyn successfully secured the votes needed to add the Justice for Victims of Trafficking Act amendment to the Runaway and Homeless Youth and Trafficking Prevention Act (S. 2646) that will bring trafficking victim protections along with those for runaway and homeless youth – an appropriate connection since so many runaway and homeless youth are vulnerable to being trafficked.
Find your senator below and if he/she is a co-sponsor of the JVTA thank them for their support and urge them to continue this support to get the Justice for Victims of Trafficking Act through the Senate!
You can use the following message or leave one of your own:
“I am calling to thank Senator _____ for co-sponsoring the Justice for Victims of Trafficking Act that has become an amendment to the Runaway and Homeless Youth and Trafficking Prevention Act TODAY in the Judiciary Committee executive session. I am a constituent and I am deeply concerned about the gaps in our laws that allow perpetrators, especially the people who buy sex with these victims, to escape the punishment of our trafficking law. We also need more services for our American trafficked kids. The JVTA amendment will fix these things!”
