Virginia! House Bill 607 will help juvenile sex trafficking victims to access needed crime victim compensation funds!

Dear Member of the Virginia General Assembly,

As a constituent concerned about the sex trafficking of our Nation’s youth, I urge your support of House Bill 607. This bill will help juvenile sex trafficking victims to access needed crime victim compensation funds by ensuring that all of the crimes related to their victimization are included as compensable crimes. Access to crime victim compensation is critical to child sex trafficking victims for several reasons. Crime victim compensation can provide much needed funds to assist victims in rebuilding their lives. Awarding compensation also acknowledges that trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation are serious crimes and acknowledges victims’ pain and suffering caused by those crimes. By expanding the definition of crime of violence to include all offenses criminalizing commercial sexual exploitation of children, House Bill 607 will expand the reach of this important source of funds for child sex trafficking victims.

Can I count on you to support HB 607?

Sincerely,
