Just Like Me
They are hoping you will notice, and they are hoping you hear them and understand them…
Something concerned you about the way they were being treated, or about the person who seemed to control them, or about the bruises on their arms, or about the hungry, even desperate look in their eyes.
Or that a “friend” they met in an online game is not a friend.
They are hoping you will understand their life as a trafficking victim…
Many people didn’t hear their stories and lacked the knowledge to understand them. Now, those individuals are in prison because there was no one to believe them, no one to plead their case and no advocate to help lift the garment of shame they now wear.
The federal law said they are not a criminal but trafficking victims.
Yet the state law did not recognize them and sent them to prison for decades.
Will you hear them? Will you defend them?
Will you raise your voice to speak up for those who have not been heard? Will you protest on their behalf?
Shared Hope is actively working in every state to educate lawmakers on the plight of sex-trafficked youth who have been sentenced as criminals to adult prisons and linger there for many years. Find out what you can do to right this terrible wrong.
Meet Yvonne
She was Just Like The hundreds of juveniles now being held in prison, victims of a system not designed to help victims of sex trafficking…
Hello.
I am Yvonne, and I am asking for you to add your voice, your time, and your support and help Shared Hope make the needed change to a system that imprisons victims.
I had no one to speak up for me when I was jailed for being a victim of sex trafficking. Help us give back what has been taken from the boys and girls unjustly imprisoned, self-respect, a sense of purpose, and maybe even children and relationships that were lost to the injustice.
With your help, she can be much more than a survivor…she can be a THRIVER!
