Training: Investigating and Prosecuting Gang-Motivated Sex Trafficking Cases

Shared Hope International in partnership with the Office of Sex Trafficking and Intervention Research at Arizona State University is pleased to provide a unique training: INVESTIGATING AND PROSECUTING GANG-MOTIVATED SEX TRAFFICKING CASES

Training Details

May 20, 2015
9:00am – 4:30pm

Traditionally focused on drug trafficking and other crimes, gangs across America have moved into the world of sex trafficking as a lucrative, low-risk crime. From the east to the west coast, cases are springing up in multiple jurisdictions. The National Gang Intelligence Center reports that prison gangs, criminal street gangs, outlaw motorcycle gangs and hybrid gangs all have a stake in this market -whether they’re local, national or transnational. These resource-intensive cases involved multiple perpetrators and, oftentimes, multiple victims, requiring a depth of collaboration at the local and federal level.

This training is designed to provide investigators and prosecutors a closer look at gang-motivated sex trafficking cases, including instruction on Arizona gang activity, gang dynamics and indoctrination, recruitment and control tactics by offenders, effective investigative tactics, and appropriate charges. Presenters will dissect cases from various jurisdictions to share lessons learned. Breakout sessions will be provided on key topics. This training is open to law enforcement investigators and prosecutors only. Gang, vice and human trafficking units are encouraged to register.
