Fellowships at Shared Hope International allow emerging leaders to apply their knowledge and skills in a professional, non-profit environment. Shared Hope fellows are usually graduate-level students looking to make a difference and expand their understanding of issues related to the commercial sexual exploitation of children and youth. While fellowships are unpaid, a monthly travel stipend may be available, depending on the term and number of hours worked.
Current Opportunities
Law Fellowships
- Law Fellows will engage in intensive legal research to address cutting-edge issues in domestic minor sex trafficking. Such projects will allow the Fellow to dig into nuanced and uncharted legal waters and provide recommendations, findings, and briefs to Shared Hope’s Policy Team. Literature reviews, case law research, and statutory analysis may be part of supporting larger position papers or topical research projects. Time, supervision, and support will be provided so that Law Fellows have meaningful opportunities to produce a writing sample over the course of the fellowship. Finally, Law Fellows will be encouraged to join Shared Hope staff for Capitol Hill briefings, task force meetings, and other events centered on trafficking-related issues to ensure an immersive experience.
-
Law Fellowships are designed to be carried out in our Washington D.C. office; however, remote fellowships for exceptional candidates may be considered. Current law school students or recent law school graduates are encouraged to apply. Fellowships may be performed on either a full-time or part-time basis, depending on the term. Supervision by licensed attorneys will be provided.
Policy Fellowships
-
Policy Fellows will engage in policy analysis and research to address cutting-edge issues in domestic minor sex trafficking. Policy Fellowships are restricted to students who have already completed their undergraduate degree and are pursuing an advanced degree in a related field, such as a Master of Social Work. Fellows with backgrounds in mental health, juvenile justice, victim services, etc. have a unique skill set that allows them to provide clinical and cultural framework perspectives in the recommendations, findings, and briefs they submit to Shared Hope’s Policy Team. Literature reviews, reviews of state child welfare practices, and effective policy analysis on federal legislation may be part of supporting larger position papers or topical research projects. Time, supervision, and support will be provided. Policy Fellows are also encouraged to join Shared Hope staff for Capitol Hill briefings, task force meetings, and other events centered on trafficking-related issues to ensure an immersive experience.
