Saving and Restoring Lives!

A raging river …
Perhaps you’ve heard that old fable:
A man and his family are out in the country, enjoying a picnic on a beautiful day. But not for long. In a moment of quiet, he hears a faint cry for help and looks to the river. In horror, he sees a head bobbing in the rough current.
A child.
Without a thought, the man races to the river, jumps in, and brings the child to shore. As he sits down to catch his breath, he hears another sound … another cry for help. And then another. And then more desperate children cry for help.
The man realizes that somehow, for some reason, the children keep falling into the river somewhere upstream. More and more children will plunge into the river unless someone fixes the source of the problem.
We, too, have been pulling children out of the violent, dangerous river that is the commercial sex industry. We’re swimming upstream with all of our strength to bring one precious, vulnerable life at a time to the shore.
It is valuable, critical work.
And we will not quit.
Through your support of Shared Hope, you are keeping vulnerable children from falling into the devastation of child sex trafficking, preventing them from the same fate as that of their mothers.
To help address the source of the problem, you send them to school; you provide nutritious sustainable food; you give them the skills they need to move them toward their hopes and dreams.
We’ve watched them grow — academically, physically, emotionally, spiritually. They’re learning a new pattern of life … in a loving family environment.
Thank you for every child you’ve reached. Together, we can keep saving and restoring lives.
“Sustainable.”
It’s an important concept for our partner homes and groups, like Asha Nepal.
We encourage each home to engage in sustainable business practices, and to grow as self-sufficient as possible.
At the same time, however, we recognize the limitations of the cultures in which they work — so we stand with them faithfully, year by year, to make sure the lights stay on, doors stay open, mouths are fed, children are educated, and women are restored.
New moms, with babes in arms, have been coming into the Asha Nepal family for years now. Other women have delivered their newborns while living at the village.
Many are now working, some starting small businesses of their own. While they can make ends meet in many cases — providing rent, caring for chickens, and putting meals on the table — other expenses, like paying for uniforms and government-mandated testing, can be economically out of reach. Our role is to ensure that each child’s education is funded — this ensures they will have the skills to eventually support themselves.
Because you’ve said yes to helping Shared Hope, we’ve been able to say yes to girls like Chimini (pictured here). She was just an infant when she arrived at Asha Nepal with her mother. Today, she’s a charming eight-year-old and enthusiastic student. She has a future. All of this is possible because of you!
Thank you for changing children’s lives, through your support of Shared Hope!
