Our Approach
The path out of sex trafficking is never simple. It is not a single step, but a climb—often steep, often lonely. Trauma lingers. Criminal records block jobs and housing. Systems fail to see the victim behind the charge. Healing requires more than just getting out; it demands long-term, trauma-informed care and real pathways to independence.
For more than two decades, we have studied what works, building a holistic care model shaped by research, legal analysis, and expert collaboration. This foundation fuels programs like our Women’s Investment Network (WIN), providing hands-on vocational training, leadership development, and job skills that empower women to build lasting financial stability. Our JuST Response Council ensures these practices remain cutting-edge, brings together leading voices in the field to shape policy and practice, ensuring victims are protected, not punished.
This expertise also drives our restorative development work, where we offer mentorship, financial backing, and technical support to partners worldwide, helping create programs that provide survivors with long-term care, opportunity, and the chance to rebuild their lives.
International Partners
Our founders’ eyes were opened in 1998 to sex trafficking on the other side of the globe, and Shared Hope established relationships with partners in India, Nepal, South Africa, Netherlands, and Jamaica that were doing the work of victim shelter and restoration. Within a decade the evidence of sex trafficking within our own borders in the USA became abundant and undeniable.
Domestic Partners
While continuing to walk with our partners in India, Nepal and Jamaica, since 2006 through our small grants program we have supported numerous US-based service providers who are assisting survivors in all aspects of the restorative services they need. Services include housing, trauma therapy, life skills, relationship management, and training for employment and financial responsibility.
In addition to working alongside our grant partners across the country, our Vancouver, Washington headquarters hosts the domestic WIN program, a nine-month, on-site training experience where women overcoming abuse, trafficking, addiction, and incarceration gain practical job skills, professional experience, and mentorship to build long-term stability and independence.
