Prayers of Hope
One of the key pillars of Shared Hope is a commitment to restoration. For over twenty years we have worked with tremendous partners across the globe and here in the U.S. to offer strategic guidance, hands-on support, and funding. Our mission is to help these local organizations provide safe shelter and healing services to victims of sexual exploitation. Together, we are helping women and children in communities around the world achieve financial independence through education and job training programs, heal and develop healthy habits and relationships through therapeutic programs, and find safety and acceptance in secure, supportive homes.
Now is your opportunity to send prayers and messages of hope and love to the boys and girls who are survivors of minor sex trafficking at our partner organizations.
Enter your words in the form below. At the end of each week we will compile them on a poster for the youth to read and send it directly to the partner highlighted.

This week you can send prayers of hope to survivors in Jamaica
Shared Hope has had a special relationship with Jamaica since the early days of our sex trafficking research. In 2006 they were selected as one of the countries we were to investigate under a State Department grant for its culture related to sex trafficking. In that process we got to meet individuals and NGOs who advanced our understanding of commercial sex markets and the sex tourism industry that exist in that country. When I met Christina, she was actually only dimly aware of sex trafficking as a phenomenon because her concern was focused on the high number of abortions being carried out, particularly among young girls. She shared with us that the culture accommodates the idea of “making do” which translates into doing whatever is necessary to put food on the table, including permitting one’s children to be used for commercial sex. The pregnancies that result, must be dealt with…
Christina’s heart was broken for these babies and the children conceiving them, and that’s when Shared Hope decided to partner with her ministry. With our relationship and support she became deeply involved in preventing young girls from succumbing to the lure of the sexual entertainment industry of Jamaica. Over the years we have assisted Christina’s organization in obtaining ever larger housing to accommodate the growing number of very young mommies and their babies. The young moms are given structure, spiritual and practical training, and most of all—love, encouragement and acceptance. Many have been able to become independent and one of the early residents now manages the home, assisted by her own daughter who is now a teenager. In 2019 three of us from SHI spent a week with them in their beautiful home that was donated by another organization and made habitable by support from Shared Hope’s donors. The babies took special interest in Butch, our board member, and competed for his attention; his lap was never empty!
Your prayers and messages entered in the form below will be seen by those we support in Jamaica.
