Job Description
POSITION OVERVIEW: Since 2011, Shared Hope International has annually published the Protected Innocence Challenge report, which is a detailed report grading each state’s laws regarding domestic minor sex trafficking.
The report examines 41 components falling within 6 areas: Criminalization of Domestic Minor Sex Trafficking, Demand, the Trafficker, the Facilitator, Protective Provisions for Child Victims, and Law Enforcement Tools. The fall 2015 law fellow will be updating the analysis and recommendations for states based on laws enacted over the last year, as well as completing other projects related to the Protected Innocence Challenge.
ORGANIZATIONAL OVERVIEW: Shared Hope International is a 501c3 nonprofit organization headquartered in Vancouver, Washington with an office in Arlington, Virginia (Rosslyn Metro). The position is in the Arlington, Virginia office near the Rosslyn Metro.
Qualifications
Very strong writing and editing skills; Experience in statutory analysis; Professionalism; High attention to detail; Ability to work independently and follow instructions thoroughly to uphold the integrity of all publications; Ability to focus and produce in a fast-paced environment, working in close proximity to colleagues; Excellent Microsoft Word Skills. Ability to conduct legal research and shepardize with LexisNexis or Westlaw; Ability to accurately use BlueBook citations. Committed interest in the issues surrounding human trafficking for sexual exploitation, especially of children; experience working on issues of juvenile justice and/or child welfare preferred.
